Needle trail, about 8 miles round trip, 4000' elevation gain, takes somewhere between 8 to 10 hours to do it. Simply look at the Needle from the Las Cruces side should give one an idea of the difficulty level of the hike.
Last time we went up there was January 20, 2013. Deep snow added some excitement to that. This time, the snow should have melted. It's not that cold anymore, and not hot yet. The wind is calm. The sunshine makes it nice and cozy to be on the Needle. These days could be good days to do the Needle hike.
Meet us at Milagro Coffee at 7:30 am or 8:00am at La Cueva Picnic Area parking lot of Dripping Springs.
