It looks like I will miss both Wheeler and Rabbit Ear North this Saturday, but, I am still open Sunday. So, let's do Organ Peak!
Organ Peak trail, roughly, 10 miles round trip, 4,000' of climbing. Definitely not a walk in the park (no pun intended). One of the difficult Organ hikes, but technically less challenging. Part of the trail is shaded, still, no lack of sun exposure. Bring plenty of sunscreen, and minimum 5 liters of drinking water. If the weatherman is trust-able, it's going to be a relatively cool day (according to desert standard) with no rain. But bring a poncho anyways.
After the heavy rain, the Organs turned fresh green. Given it another week, the barely detectible Peak trail could well be returned to the jungle, with grass and undergrowth brush having a wild party. So, long pants and high hiking boots are preferable.
