A relatively easy, Saturday morning stroll to the end of the trail (and maybe more) at the end of Dripping Springs Natural Area on the west side of the Organ Mountains.
There are lots of ruins here, including the old Boyd Sanitorium and Van Patten’s Mountain Camp.
Please bring adequate water, shoes, etc. Please notice that pets are not allowed!
DISTANCE is ~3–4 mi roundtrip
ELEVATION GAIN is is minimal, though the starting elevation is some 2000 ft above that of Las Cruces.
FEES: $5/vehicle, paid at the visitors center. Cash only! If you have a Federal Lands Pass, please bring them; they are accepted here.
DURATION: Finish by late morning/early afternoon.
PET FRIENDLY? No; pets are not allowed in Drippings Springs Natural Area.
SKILL LEVEL is reasonably beginner friendly. This among the easiest of the hikes this group does.
