Kilbourne Hole is a volcanic crater in southern Dona Ana County, about 30 miles from Las Cruces. Kilborn Hole was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1975 by the DOI for it's unique geology so if you're a rock hound you'll like this one. This is about a 7 mile hike around the rim with little change in elevation but a moderately difficult hike. I'll post more directions later this week but it looks like La Mesa would be a good place to meet up with folks from El Paso. This is a good hike for dogs.
