This year, we have had so much rain in the Organs that crystal clear springs are running everywhere in Dripping Springs State Park.
Morning air is getting a bit crispy, ah, fall is coming. Yet, the mountains are the greenest we have ever seen. And the daisies think it's spring, beaming the widest, brightest golden smile, dancing, celebrating...
Let's celebrate the mountains too, with a hike and potluck.
We will visit the Hermit's Cave, Fillmore Canyon Waterfall, the ruins and the reservoir. The whole hike is less than 4 miles, takes about 3 hours, that is, having plenty of time soaking in the view, and freeze them in your camera.
We have choices to as where to have the potluck. First choice would be in front of Van Patten Camp. Nice shade, with natural sounds as background music. The downside of it is, we will have to carry our food there. Another choice is La Cueva Picnic Area.
We will make a decision on that come time.
No doubt, this is a hike that could be enjoyed by any level of hikers. Bring your family, invite your neighbors along, let's have a nice Saturday in the Park!
Unfortunately, for pet owners, your dogs are not allowed on this event.
Feel free to comment on what you are bringing for the potluck.
Meet us at Milagro Coffee at 8:00am for carpooling, or 8:30am at Dripping Springs Visitor Center.
