This hike is about 6 to 7 miles total distance, with about 3000 feet of climbing, and it takes about 8 hours.
This hike combines three hikes together, Big Ice, Little Ice, and Big Baldy. Any one of these three hikes is challenging enough, the combination definitely will not make it easier.
On May 4 this past spring, 12 hikers did Big Ice Canyon - Ridge - Little Ice Canyon, and it was quite a successful adventure.
On September 28, I revisited both Canyons with another hiker, and found out that with water running, it's just more interesting and more adventurous.
It is with a lot of exposed steep climbing, both in bedrock canyons, and loose scree heading toward the ridge. Comes to climbing and scrambling, it is right up there with the Organ Needle hike. The hike is amazingly beautiful, still, the effort and skills involved should make hikers take pause and rethink.
