The city of Las Cruces has built a walking path from Triviz Path (along Interstate 25) to the La Lorna Trail (along the Rio Grande). This Tuesday, we'll walk along this hiking path. Plan is to keep a 4 mph pace, but in reality we don't go much faster than 3.5 mph.
The path is a paved asphalt path, so please leave your hiking boots at home and bring your walking/running shoes instead. Your knees will thank you.
From Kohl's, we'll hike the connector trail to the Rio Grande. It's some 10–11 mi to the river at this point along a paved trail (it is unlighted, so bring a flashlight. There's some ambient light so it is likely you do not need it.)
DISTANCE is 10 mi, out and back.
ELEVATION GAIN is negligible.
FEES: None. Of course, if you carpool, please compensate your driver for gas!
DURATION: Finish by late night, 8–9 pm.
PET FRIENDLY? Yes. Bring a muzzle (you shouldn't need be told to bring a proper leash), and if you'd like to unleash, ask others before you do so.
SKILL LEVEL is reasonably beginner friendly.
TERRAIN is a level, paved cycleway/walkway. You can walk it in the dark w/ your eyes closed!
WEATHER is mid-40s, cloudy. Please dress warmly (you can always take things off).
AFTERWARDS we'll go get ice cream at Baskin Robbins if time allows.
