turkey-busting on Ron Coleman trail

Las Cruces people can meet at the Pan Am parking lot at 8:30 2nd meeting point at 9:30 at the summit trailhead of Transmountain road, this is just East of the pass. (fee area for Franklin mtn st park) Hike from here, or option to leave shuttle cars here and drive to McKelligan canyon trailhead at other end of the trail, I estimate if we do this we would start around 10). Trail gains 2000 ft elevation and is close to 4 miles. Both ends of the trail head uphill. I understand there are a set of handrails that cover a quite steep section of trail. There is access to S Franklin peak nearby from the top of the trail. (I havent been here yet!) Bert cell[masked]

This was a spectacular place. We shuttled and did the hike from McKelligon to transmountain road. We could have easily have been turned back by the nasty rock scrambling near "The Window" and Im glad we had a small group that braved making it over the walls. Dont try this trail going from transmountain to McKelligan past South Franklin because going down is a blind search for rock holds at "The Window".
Renee was a big help getting everyone through. Thanks! I think everyone loved this hike.

Getting back into hiking again after an ankle injury and this was a challenging way to start. I have only done the up and back to the elephant trunk in the past. Great views of El Paso. This didn't bother my ankle so I am good to go. Where's the next hike?!

Most difficult hike I've done with this group. I don't know who Ron Coleman is, but he must have been a jerk to have this trail named after him. Totally enjoyed myself even though I did not take enough photos, did not mark enough GPS waypoints (like the locations of the climbing chains), and injured myself. But that's how great it is.

we would be out something like 9 to 130 or so.
Do we have a "quorum"? I would like to go out again on Sunday Dec 5th. Should we reschedule this trip at that time,
or go tomorrow and then go again.

Is there an estimate of how long this trail will take?

Franklin mtns state park allows leashed dogs, I am pretty certain. I never did decide if Im going to take Buster, right now I am not inclined to take him. Looks like a small group. Is anyone planning to meet us in El Paso?
