Armed Forces Day 2011 comes to Fort Bliss from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday, May 21, at BIGGS PARK. It's FREE and open to the public. Activities include: equipment static displays, demonstration by the Military Police Working Dog Teams, entertainment by the 62nd Army Band; Chili Cook-Off, Car Show, Historical Tours and food and drink concessions.
It's a cool event, free and open to the public. You need to bring cash for
concessions no credit cards accepted. They sell beer, hotdogs, bratwursts
and more. The 28th annual chili cook-off has approximately 30 contestants
from the Sergeants Major Academy participating. They usually ask for $3
donation to taste all chilies. We need to get there at least by 10:30 so we
can try them all, as they do run out. All day events include bands, bliss
tours, Tango tour, health fair and more. Doors open at 10.
Armed Forces Day at BIGGS PARK is an open house event that provides you the opportunity to meet with service men and women and learn about the equipment they use in support of this nation. Armed Forces Day 2011, Saturday, May 21, FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. For more information, call the Fort Bliss Public Affairs at 568-4505.
