Meet at 8 am at the Fairacres Post Office Parking lot on W Picacho Ave for carpooling.
This is a beginner hike because we will hike part of the loop trail around the mountain so we can take the gentle trail to the peak. This hike is dependent on high clearance car to get to the trailhead, especially after some big rains this summer.
If you don't have high clearance vehicle, no worries. You can hitch a ride with somebody at the Post Office. If you do have a high clearance vehicle, please bring it along. (The worst scenario would be everybody rides in Steve's truck, which would hardly come to that.)
Total climb approx 1000 feet and round trip distance is approx 6 miles.
Please bring drinking water and a snack.
Hiking shoes are preferred for the terrain.
DISTANCE is is ~6 mi round-trip
ELEVATION GAIN is ~1000 ft gained.
FEES: None. Of course, if you carpool, please compensate your driver for gas!
DURATION: Finish by late morning/early afternoon.
PET FRIENDLY? Yes. Bring a muzzle (you shouldn't need be told to bring a proper leash), and if you'd like to unleash, ask others before you do so.
SKILL LEVEL is reasonably beginner friendly, low-end of intermediate.
TERRAIN rocky, but established trail.
WEATHER If you can trust the weatherman, it's going to be sunny, temperature in the 70s, an ideal day to be out there in the open.
AFTERWARDS If enough people are in the same mood, we might go to a brewery joint (there's always the High Desert, and Spotted Dog is something we might want to check out too).
