I purpose to visit three main galleries that evening beginning with the Las Cruces Museum of Art currently showing “Fragile Waters” an exhibition of 117 black and white prints some of which have not been seen before that feature images of our most fragile resource. On exhibit are works by Ernest H. Brooks, Dorothy Kerper-Monnelly and Ansel Adams. The exhibition was curated by Ansel Adams’ daughter-in-law for the “Photokunst Foundation.”
Across the patio at the Brannigan Cultural Center is an equally impressive exhibit of the work of National Geographic photographer, George Steinmetz. Entitled “Desert Air” this is a stunning exhibit of images from the world’s most “extreme desert” environments. A few blocks away at the “West End Art Depot” is an opening reception for work by local sculpture Kelly Hester and painter/printmaker Chris Bardey.
Afterward there are several wineries or some nice places to grab a bite to eat, always nearby.
We’ll meet up at 6pm in the parking lot behind COAS Bookstore at 317 N. Main Street. Text me at[masked] if you have any questions.
