Late notice (the best notice?)! I'll be doing a training hike from 12 pm–6 pm this afternoon.
Goal is to walk the Sierra Vista Trail, starting at the Soledad Canyon trail head, south to the Mesquite/Mossman Arroyo trail head, keeping a brisk 2.5 mph pace. The total distance is 14 mi, so if we start at 12 pm we should finish by 6 pm.
You must be able to keep pace if you're doing this hike. Since it is an out-and-back hike, if you're unable to keep pace, you can turn around at your own leisure.
Please bring: headlamp (if we got stuck out there in the dark), warm jacket, 1 Gal water (or however much you think you need for 14 mi).
DISTANCE is ~14 mi, out-and-back.
ELEVATION GAIN is negligible.
FEES: None. Of course, if you carpool, please compensate your driver for gas!
DURATION: Finish by early evening.
PET FRIENDLY? Yes. Bring a muzzle (you shouldn't need be told to bring a proper leash), and if you'd like to unleash, ask others before you do so.
SKILL LEVEL is as beginner friendly as walking 14 mi can be.
TERRAIN is relatively well-maintained, rocky/gravel trail. Up and downs as it goes through arroyos.
WEATHER is abundantly sunny. Why are you staying indoors!
ROAD CONDITIONS: is paved the entire route.
AFTERWARDS we may get dinner somewhere.
