That Dam stroll

The Las Cruces Dam, running north to south from Del Rey Boulevard to East Lohman, is frequently used as a walking path in the city that, unlike other walking paths, is sufficiently away from any motor routes.

The dam walk is absolutely level, (no elevation gain/loss,) which should be pretty obvious. Otherwise, the engineers who built it had a problem.  The city light surrounding the dam is quite a view in itself, also, it makes it possible to do this hike without carrying your own light. However, hikers are encouraged to bring a light just in case.

This is an easy 5 mile hike suit for all levels of hikers.

DISTANCE is 5.3 mi round-trip.

ELEVATION GAIN is absolutely zero.

FEES: None.

DURATION: about 2 hours.

PET FRIENDLY? Yes. Bring a muzzle (you shouldn't need be told to bring a proper leash), and if you'd like to unleash, ask others before you do so.

SKILL LEVEL is unbelievably beginner friendly.

TERRAIN sandy/rocky path.

WEATHER is TBA.

AFTERWARDS we may go for dinner together (Farley's anyone?).

MEET at:

Las Cruces: 6:00 pm, south end of Las Cruces Dam near East Lohman Ave. See map (OpenStreetMap or Google Maps).

Wouldn't mind! But my presence is sporadic. Makes more sense to me to have organizer give a quick welcome, intro folks, and maybe explain that outing plan real briefly. Are we staying togethet? Spreading out as we wish? Re-connect at halfway mark or not until the end? Dog culture rules. Ya know. Quick orientation.. Can be a little confusing for newcomers or newcomers to that particular trail or leader. Just ideas!!! I think we rock in general
    : ) !

I love the casual, friendly approach of our group. I do think when a sporadic, or new attendee, comes, we need to take a few minutes to ask them about themselve and introduce them to each member of the group. I think we could improve a bit on that. Otherwise....Always relaxed and fun.

Sounds like someone is volunteering to be our director of hospitality!
