Red House Mountain is located east of I-25 at the Hatch Exit. The peak of Red House stands at about 6,000 ft. This will be on leisurely off trail hike in the high desert, with some scrambling up dry waterfalls, scree, cactus and bushwhacking. Most of the hike will be in the arroyos surrounding the peak. There are amazing rock formations in the arroyos and an old mine to explore. The view from the top of the peak is beautiful. It will be a warm day and we will take breaks as needed.
I would recommend bring a higher clearance vehicle, or a 4x4. There is a short section of road which has large rocks and holes.
After the hike we can have lunch at Sparky's in Hatch before heading home.
