Rough and Ready hike

The area is behind Picacho Mountain – south west of the Robledo Mountains. It’s a small range of volcanic hills about 15 miles west of Las Cruces in Dona Ana County. It is BLM land accessible by a well-maintained county road that passes through the Corralitos Ranch. It is well known for rock climbing the deposits of rhyolite tuffs and flows.

The hike is about 3 miles, takes about 3 hours, with about 600 feet of climbing. Besides that part of the hike is off trail, desert terrain traverse, it is a beginner level hike. So, if you can call yourself a hiker, you can probably do this hike.

Meet us at Fairacres Post Office at 8:00am.
