Hike details: Baylor Canyon Pass

A nice hike for both beginners and intermediate hikers, Baylor Canyon Pass starts in the high upper desert and takes you into the pine trees and junipers. Since this will be an out and back hike beginners may go as far as they like and then turn around and head back to the car (but please let someone know if you decided to do this on the trail). I am hoping we will see some poppies on the trail.

Please bring plenty of water, hat, snacks, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear. Hiking poles are suggested.

DISTANCE is ~6 mi round-trip, out and back to the top of the pass.

ELEVATION GAIN is ~800 ft to the top of the pass.

FEES: None. Of course, if you carpool, please compensate your driver for gas!

DURATION: 3–4 hours. Hopefully finish no later than 1 pm.

PET FRIENDLY? Yes. Bring a muzzle (you shouldn't need be told to bring a leash).

SKILL LEVEL Intermediate.

TERRAIN well-maintained trail. Starts in the desert (with no shade), climbs to riparian forest (juniper, etc).

AFTERWARDS TBD. Maybe lunch, nap, and shower and then Blazin' Brewfest for beer tastings and food trucks.
