The Las Cruces Dam, running north to south from Del Rey Boulevard to East Lohman, is frequently used as a walking path in the city that, unlike other walking paths, is sufficiently away from any motor routes.
The dam walk is absolutely leveled, (no elevation gain/loss,) which should be pretty obvious. Otherwise, the engineers who built it had a problem. The city light surrounding the dam is quite a view in itself, also, it makes it possible to do this hike without carrying your own light. However, hikers are encouraged to bring a light just in case.
This is an easy 5 mile hike suit for all levels of hikers. Lets come out and have some fun!
DISTANCE is 5.3 mi round-trip.
ELEVATION GAIN is absolutely zero.
DURATION: under 2 hours.
PET FRIENDLY? Yes, have a way to restrain your dog, and if you'd like to unleash, ask others before you do so.
SKILL LEVEL is unbelievably beginner friendly.
TERRAIN sandy/rocky path.
WEATHER is TBA.
AFTERWARDS we may go for dinner together (will decide during hike).
