Marble Canyon South

This off trail adventure was so much fun last week that we plan to do it again over the Thanksgiving Holiday... we will take it at an easy pace, but it is a steep, demanding hike with a number of minor scrambles up and around dry falls... Check out the pictures to get an idea of the terrain...

This is neat canyon to hike with all the dry waterfalls. Then climbing to the ridge and walking back on the mesa where you can look down on the canyon we just hiked is fun.

So... no using the word "easy" anywhere in the hike description... and add a few more comments about: difficult, strenuous and dangerous... and, note that it is Canyoneering, not plain hiking! There are 20 to 30 of these great canyons over here in Alamo... each different, all fun!

this was a great hike. close to home with such diversity. my friend val gives mike
an "a" for leading the hike. it's always good to see hikers i know and nice to meet some new ones. i look forward to the pics.

Interesting to finally have a larger group trekking up into the canyon... It gives me a better perspective on how to advertise/inform about future canyon adventures over here! Nice bunch of folks!

Very difficult, very strenuous- lots of pay off. The weather was perfect, the scenery fantastic. Michal certainly knows the Alamogordo Mtn range!

does the hike start at the end of 10th st or will we have to
drive to a trailhead? if so, what's the terrain?

Note: there is no street address for the little park next to the Firestation... but... it is at the far east end of 10th, past Scenic Drive.
