Of the Seven main Marble Canyon drainages, this is the only one to wrap around Hershberger Peak, curving all the way back to the ridge connecting Hershberger with Ortega Peak. This drainage has it's own character, beginning with a narrower defile than the other Marble Canyon drainages. Some of the Scrambles are a bit more challenging than is to be found in the others, and there is more obstructing brush. This is a Class I Canyoneering trek, off trail for the ascending portion, with a very steep side bank climbout to access the "A" trail, which will be our easy route home. Overall, this is not as difficult a day as Marble Canyon South, but it is a long, hard day. Good idea to bring along gloves to push through the overgrowth...
