Tramway area trails in El Paso


Cross post w/ the El Paso Ridgewalkers, hiking several of the trails in the southern tip of the Franklin Mountains. Hoping to catch:

Jackalope Trail Directissimo Trail Ranger Peak Trail 1000 Steps Trail Plan is to take the C Road to the top of the ridge, walk to the tramway, the trails around the tramway, down the West Side and back to the car.

DISTANCE is 3–4 mi roundtrip.

ELEVATION GAIN is 1000–2000 ft gained.

FEES: None. Of course, if you carpool, please compensate your driver for gas!

DURATION: Should be finished by late morning.

PET FRIENDLY? Yes. Bring a muzzle (you shouldn't need be told to bring a leash).

SKILL LEVEL is challenging but doable for beginners. Most everything in the Franklin Mountains will be more difficult.

TERRAIN is steep mountainside. While we will be on trail there is a lot of loose rock, prickly plants, etc.

WEATHER should be clear, but warm.

AFTERWARDS we may stop for breakfast/early lunch.
