Mule Canyon North...the Steamboat!

Hosted by Jornada Hiking & Outdoors Club

Public group

The most prominent feature of the frontal range above the city is the formation called The Lady... from side angles, it is known as the Steamboat. At 7,000' it stands out proudly above the 4400' of the city.

There are a number of approaches, all off trail. Deadman's Canyon on the north is the easier approach. Mule Canyon North is an inviting potential access from the south... can we get there that way... I do not know? This will be an exploratory hike to find out what lurks up and around that inviting drainage.

Class II Canyoneering adventure... all off trail... Exploratory... the route is unknown... Strenuous... Demanding... Not for Beginners.

We may not make it to the top... but, it should be interesting!

Note: I will check out our options for approach; if we can not get there from Mule we will instead trek up Deadman and peak out from there, doing a review of Mule from above!
