The Narrows

The Narrows is a steep outcropping of rock up Fillmore Canyon past Fillmore Springs. I've not done it before but Ryan is familiar with the trail. It's about about a 7 mile, moderate hike that should take about 4 1/2 hours. We'll meet at the Pan Am parking lot at 8:30 and head out from there. There is a $3/car fee at the Dripping Springs Park for those that want to meet there.

Great hike, some beautiful views. Great group of people, kudo's to Jake & his son for making it all the way to the top and back out! I'd like to take the canyon up further into the mountains to see what's there some day. Thanks to those with better cameras than my cheapo one for putting up way better pictures than I took!

I liked hike it was very peacefull, only the group was on the trail. The quiet was very nice right before finals week. My son enjoyed the hike he like seeing all the different people in the group. I was surprised to see all the different things out on the trail, like a bush with animal bones put on it. My son and I really enjoyed our selfs and cant wait to do it again.

It was a wonderful hike, both in terms of scenery and level of difficulty.

The people were very friendly. The walked so fast that I had trouble keeping up with them. The hill they hiked up was very steep and with a lot of loose shale, I turned around and went down before I reached the top. I am used to hiking at a leasurly pace to take in the beauty of nature, not running up mountains. I thought I was in good shape, but I guess they are used to the pace they set.

I will give it another try in the future because they are such nice folks to be with. Now that I know how fast they hike I will wait untill the hike is a little less up hill.

They rated this hike, moderate, my hiking book rates it strenuious.

Hike six miles. About half is over a one foot trail compared to the atv grade trail the first half out of the park. The narrows has a creek running through it. Very scenic. Great hike. A little bit more than moderate.

I'm not new to the area but new to the group. I would love to join you all on Sunday and will try my best to be there. For future hikes -- are dogs allowed?
