Build a Textable AI Assistant & Good News about Design Systems!
Details
We're partnering with TechChicago Week in July!
We have an exciting lineup of four technical talks, and, of course, we'll have time to eat pizza and network.
Here's your lineup:
π Building Your Own Textable AI Assistant in 30 Minutes or Less with Nieky Allen
Are you worried about what gets sent to AI models when you chat? Do you wish you had your own personal Jarvis or Cortana that can answer questions at your fingertips? Are you tired of having yet another app or tool to install?
Me too! So, in classic dev fashion, I built my own! And you can, too! Together, we will go through the initial process of implementing your own AI assistant, which you can customize and iterate on your own by using a single JS/TS function hooked up to Twilio as a webhook. By the end of the session, you should be able to have your own little assistant you can hook up and text from your phone!
Prerequisites
- Val Town account
- Twilio account with a number setup (instructions here)

π Sharing the Good News about Design Systems! with Shea Leslein
Design systems play an integral role in our lives as software engineers. Together, we'll uncover the fundamentals of design systems. We'll see how design systems improve developer and user experience through increased velocity and consistency.
***
π Bridging the Design Divide with Kori Ryter
What is the design stack, and what causes a divide between user researchers, designers, and developers? How do we improve collaboration and coordination between the different roles across the design process? How do we have more fun and build better products? Let's explore these possibilities together!

π Micro-Frontends: State of the Craft with Brian Sokol
The micro-frontend pattern brings the modularity and scalability of the microservice pattern to the frontend. But is this architecture a good fit for your organization? There are a ton of factors to take into consideration, so letβs talk about it.
See you there!
