I have reserved a campsite #1 in Ash & Elm Loops

Rocky Gap State park is a 3,000 acre state park whose central feature is Lake Habeeb which encompasses 243 acres. Lake activities include swimming, non-motorized boating and fishing. Several hiking trails offer great views of the lake and gorge.

The park has an aviary for injured birds and small animals. Viewing and demonstrations are based upon ranger availability.

Proposed Schedule:
Friday, Aug 14, 2026 - Arrive. Set up. Discuss Saturday's activities.
Saturday, Aug 15 - Covered dish dinner
Sunday, July 12: Breakfast, strike camp and return home

Participation in the above schedule is purely voluntary as there are so many activities to participate in.

DETAILS:
Everyone must get their own campsite.
Campsite amenities include a fire ring and table. Water, bathrooms and showers are nearby.

I ask that everyone bring a bundle of firewood to support our evening campfire.

If you are bring your own water craft, please check MD requirements.

Please do not bring food that you, personally don't have a way to prepare or refrigerate. Planning to prepare food over the campfire is very tricky unless you are very experienced.

Suggested plan:
Let's meet in the parking lot at 9:30. Gates open at 10am. Look for the American flag on a tall pole with blue ribbon. Once assembled and greetings exchanged, a lunch plan will be decided.

What you need to know:
You must purchase your own ticket. Tickets go on sale July 27.

Food may be brought in but no coolers or obvious carriers. One sealed bottle of water and one empty water bottle may be taken in. Water refill stations are available. Clear bags only. Please visit website for more details.

Not all vendors take credit cards.

Dress for the weather and dusty uneven trails. Shade is limited.
