WHAT: Snorkeling and freediving at La Jolla Shores

The snorkeling portion is much more informal...there isn't a set time or a designated leader for the dives, just come hang out and people will be going out for a snorkel throughout the day!

For the freedivers we will have two sessions. The first is from 0800-1100, the second from 1200-1500. I will be teaching a class so there will be 4 students on a float for each session, and 4 open spots available for each session for those who want to practice/train. In order to participate in the freediving portion you must have proof of some sort of freediving certification, and there is a line charge of $10 (cash preferred). Please send an email to chris@diveviz.com to reserve your spot.

For the cookout, we're doing it potluck style again! Please post what you're bringing here:

I'll bring a tent and coals, the rest is up to the group! Technically there isn’t any alcohol allowed at Kellogg park so…bring your own, whatever it is you want to drink.

It might be worthwhile to bring a surfboard in case the waves are huge and the diving is really difficult. Totally up to you, but you never know what the ocean is gonna do and it’s best to be prepared for whatever!

Detailed Timeline:
0730-0745: Tent setup, gear staging
0745-0755: Dress out
0800-1030: First line diving session
1030-1100: Dress down, rinse gear, final academics
1100-1130: Setup for cookout, start coals
1130-1330: Second line diving session
1130-1500: Grill and chill
1500-1530: Clean, pack up and leave

If you can't make it in the morning feel free to swing by and dive while we are cooking out as well...I'm sure there will be someone willing to go out with you!

WHERE: We will meet at the southern end of Kellogg Park, close to Vallecitos Ave, by the flagpole. Look for the DiveViz tent!

Wetsuit - for snorkelers I recommend a 3mm suit, and freedivers will want a 5mm freediving suit.

Towel for changing before/after
IF YOU DON'T HAVE GEAR check out House of Scuba, mention DiveViz, and you'll get 5% off of purchases (not rentals)
