Line diving, Snorkeling and cook out!

WHAT: Freediving, snorkeling, BEACH CLEANUP, and grilling

Join us for a full day of water, sand, sun, food, and best of all a great group of divers!

Beach Cleanup:

From 9am-noon we will be partnering with Project Kolika for a beach clean up! We love our underwater playground and want to do our part to keep it clean and enjoyable

Freediving/Line diving:

The freedivers will dive from 0800-1030, and again from 1200-1430. In order to participate in the freediving portion you must have proof of some sort of freediving certification, make sure you bring it with you! If your in need of certification our resident free diving instructors hold classes throughout the year which can be found at the link below:

Snorkeling:

The snorkeling goes out usually around 1pm when the first freediving group returns and people will group together to swim around the Marine room throughout the afternoon. no certification is required for snorkeling

Social:

For the food, we do it potluck style. I'll bring a tent and grill, but don't have room for food so please bring something to share! Technically there isn’t any alcohol allowed at Kellogg park so…bring your own, whatever it is you want to drink!

WHERE: We will meet in the middle of Kellogg Park closer to the street side...just look for our awesome DiveViz tent!

GEAR:
Mask
Snorkel
Fins
Wetsuit - Freedivers will definitely want a 5mm open cell freediving suit. For snorkeling you might be warm enough in a 3mm, especially in the summer
Weight belt - if you're comfortable with wearing weight it will help you get down a little easier. Not necessary for snorkeling, but a must for the freedivers
Camera! Bring your GoPros, waterproof phone cases, etc... the more pictures the better
De-fog
Towel for changing before/after

One last thing

One of the main reasons we started this group was to connect more people with the ocean. We believe we have a responsibility to take care of the amazing playground that we get to swim around in, and one of the biggest things we can do is reduce our own use of plastics.

We will have stainless steel cups as well as bamboo reusable utensils available for purchase, and we're asking that everyone brings their own bowl or plate for eating! Our group has gotten so big that even little changes like this will make a big difference in the amount of waste we generate, and we get one step closer to truly leaving the ocean better than we found it!
