Join me for a scenic autumn hike on Mt. Iwawaki 897m (岩湧山), one of the most beautiful hiking spots in the Kansai region. In late October, the summit is surrounded by iconic shimmering susuki (Japanese pampas grass), swaying in the crisp mountain air.

We will climb Mt. Iwawaki and end on the border of Osaka and Wakayama prefecture. From the summit silver grass fields and breathtaking panoramic views of Mt. Kongo, Osaka Bay, Kobe, Rokko mountains and Awaji Island await.

• Intermediate, challenging distance and long descent
• Elevation Gain: +720m / - 779m
• The hike consists of well-maintained forest trails with a few steep and eroded sections
• Rocks on the trail can be slippery
• 5-6 hours

関西屈指の美しいハイキングスポット、岩湧山（標高897m）で、秋の絶景ハイキングを楽しみましょう。10月下旬の山頂周辺は、澄んだ山の空気の中で揺れる、きらめくススキの穂に包まれます。

岩湧山に登り、大阪府と和歌山県の県境へと下るルートを歩きます。山頂からは、ススキの草原に加え、金剛山、大阪湾、神戸、六甲山系、そして淡路島を一望する素晴らしいパノラマが広がっています。

• レベル：中級（距離が長く、下りも長いため、それなりの体力が必要です）
• 標高差：登り +720m / 下り -779m
• 整備された林道が中心ですが、一部に急勾配や浸食された箇所があります
• 足元の岩や石が滑りやすい場所があります

• 途中で昼食休憩や小休憩を挟みます

Autumn has arrived! The temperature is mild, making it the perfect season for hiking!

On this trip, we’ll climb the Soni Plateau in Mie Prefecture. This area historically flourished as a pilgrimage route from Osaka to Ise Jingu Shrine, where many traditional handicrafts were made and many artisans lived.

It is especially famous for its breathtaking silver grass (susuki) scenery from mid-October to early November.

Along the trail, you’ll be treated to stunning, panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The hike takes about 3.5 hours including a lunch break, so it's at a beginner-friendly level. After the hike, we’ll head over to a Kameno Yu Daily Onsen near the finish point to soothe our tired bodies ♨.

• 08:24 – Take the Rapid Express train for Nara
• 08:30 – Arrive at Tsuruhashi Station
• 08:33 – Transfer and ride the Express for Ise-Nakagawa
• 09:47 – Arrive at Nabari Station

From Nabari station
10:05 – Take the bus to Taroji Bus Stop
10:42 – Arrive at Taroji Bus Stop, the starting point of the hike!

Hiking (Approx. 3.5 hours, including a lunch break)

• 14:20 (approx.) – Hike finishes. Otsukare-sama deshita! 🎉
• Optional Onsen: Kameno-yu (A nice daily-use Onsen near the hiking end point ♨) (If you prefer not to go to the Onsen, you can catch a bus departing from the end point at 14:30).

秋がやってきました！気候も穏やかで、ハイキングにぴったりの季節ですね！

今回のトリップでは、三重県にある曽爾高原（そにこうげん）を登ります。 このエリアは昔、大阪から伊勢神宮へ参拝するための道として栄え、多くの職人たちが暮らして伝統工芸品などを支えてきた歴史のある場所です。このエリアは10月中旬から11月上旬にかけて見頃を迎える、一面に広がる美しいススキの景色がとても有名です！

ハイキングの途中では、周囲の山々や美しい自然のパノラマビューを楽しめます。ランチ休憩を含めて約3.5時間のハイキングなので、初心者の方も安心のレベルです。 歩いた後は、ハイキングのゴール近くにある温泉で疲れた体をしっかり癒やしましょう♨️

As fall comes and the trees 🍁 change colors, join me on a lovely hike around Koyasan. Located in Wakayama prefecture, south of Osaka, Koyasan sits on a plateau at approximately 900m.

It is one of Japan’s most important centers of Buddhist learning and worship. Its history dates back more than 1,200 years, and the surrounding area is home to numerous Buddhist temples.

After a short hike, we will explore Okunoin (Japan’s sacred forest of the dead). Despite its tranquil forest setting, Okunoin is Japan’s largest cemetery. Okunoin Cemetery is one of the most extraordinary and atmospheric places in Japan.

Hidden among towering cedar trees on Mount Koya, this vast Buddhist cemetery contains more than 200,000 graves and memorials, moss-covered tombstones, ancient stone lanterns, and the mausoleum of Kukai (better known by his honorific title, Kobo Daishi) one of Japan’s most revered Buddhist monks.

🍁 秋の高野山ハイキング 🍁

秋が訪れ、木々が美しく色づく季節に、みんなで高野山周辺のハイキングを楽しみませんか？

高野山は大阪の南に位置する和歌山県にあり、標高約900メートルの高原に広がっています。

高野山は、日本の仏教における重要な修行・信仰の中心地の一つです。1,200年以上の歴史があり、周辺には数多くの仏教寺院が点在しています。

短いハイキングを楽しんだ後は、奥之院（日本を代表する神聖な霊域）を散策します。

静かな森に囲まれた奥之院は、実は日本最大級の墓地でもあります。日本でも特に神秘的で、独特の雰囲気を持つ場所の一つです。

高くそびえる杉の木々に囲まれた広大な仏教墓地には、20万基を超える墓碑や供養塔、苔むした墓石、歴史ある石灯籠、そして日本を代表する高僧の一人である弘法大師（空海）の御廟があります。

歴史と自然が織りなす、神秘的な高野山の魅力を一緒に体験しましょう！

Hiking Mt. Atago & Enjoying Kyoto’s Autumn Colors 🍁

Join us for a hike up Mt. Atago (愛宕山), a sacred mountain in western Kyoto near Arashiyama!

Standing at 924 meters, Mt. Atago is Kyoto’s highest mountain and has been revered as a place of worship for centuries, much like Mt. Hiei. Beloved by Kyoto residents, it offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the city’s spiritual heritage while escaping into the peaceful beauty of nature.

At the summit, we’ll visit Atago Shrine (愛宕神社), the head shrine of hundreds of Atago shrines throughout Japan. The shrine is especially famous for its protection against fires, and visitors traditionally bring home talismans for safety and good fortune.

The trail winds through beautiful forests, stone steps, and traditional shrine gates. In November, the mild autumn weather makes it a lovely time to hike and enjoy the changing colors of the surrounding mountains.

After the hike, you can head home or join us for a relaxing evening exploring Kyoto’s autumn beauty!

• Onsen (hot spring bath): Unwind and soothe your tired muscles after the hike.
• Autumn Night Illumination at Hōgon-in Temple: Enjoy the magical atmosphere of illuminated autumn leaves at this beautiful temple in Arashiyama.

You’re also welcome to skip the hike and join us just for the onsen, autumn illumination, or both!

Kyoto’s autumn foliage is famous around the world, attracting visitors from near and far every year. Let’s enjoy this special season together, combining mountain adventure, Japanese culture, beautiful autumn scenery, and a relaxing evening.

愛宕山ハイキング＆京都の紅葉を楽しもう！🍁

京都・嵐山の西に位置する、神聖な山「愛宕山（あたごやま）」へ一緒にハイキングに行きませんか？🥾
標高924mの愛宕山は、京都市内で最も高い山です。比叡山と同じように、古くから信仰の山として崇められ、京都の人々に親しまれてきました。豊かな自然の中を歩きながら、京都の歴史や精神文化に触れることができる素敵な場所です。
山頂では、全国にある数多くの愛宕神社の総本宮である「愛宕神社（あたごじんじゃ）」を参拝します。火伏せ（火災防止）の神様として特に有名で、火事から家を守るためのお札を持ち帰る風習もあります。
美しい森林の中、石段や伝統的な鳥居を通りながら山頂を目指します。11月は比較的穏やかな気候で、周囲の山々が秋色に染まる、美しいハイキングシーズンです🍂

ハイキング終了後はそのまま帰宅してもOK！希望者は、京都の秋を満喫する夕方からのアクティビティにも参加できます。

• 宝厳院の秋の夜間特別拝観・ライトアップ： 嵐山にある美しい宝厳院で、ライトアップされた幻想的な紅葉を楽しみましょう🍁✨
  ハイキングには参加せず、温泉や紅葉ライトアップだけの参加も大歓迎です！もちろん、両方参加するのもOKです。
  京都の紅葉は世界的にも有名で、毎年国内外から多くの観光客が訪れます。
