🎎🏯Hina dolls (Girls’ Festival) and Takatori castle ruins hiking 雛人形とハイキング🥾♨️

Join me for an early spring hike through the hills of the southern Yamato plain in Nara. We’ll walk from Tsubosakayama Station to the Takaichi district, which hosts an annual Hinamatsuri (Girls' Festival)🎎. Here, we can enjoy an impressive large‑scale hina doll display along with local food stalls.

As we stroll through the town, we’ll see many homes and businesses showcasing a wide variety of hina dolls, including some large and uniquely designed ones.

Our next adventure will be the ascent of Mt. Takatori (584 m). The trail is well maintained, making for a comfortable climb. At the summit, we’ll have lunch at the ruins of Takatori castle🏯—one of Japan’s three great mountain castles.

After lunch, we’ll descend from the castle ruins to Tsubosakadera Temple (¥800)⛩️. Inside, we’ll view the “Dai-Hina Mandala,” an extraordinary display of approximately 2,500 hina dolls. It’s truly a remarkable sight— you’ll be amazed. My personal favorite is the Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Dodgers star) hina doll and his little dog.⚾️🐶

After visiting Tsubosakadera Temple, we’ll make our way back down to the Takaichi district and conclude the hike at Tsubosakayama Station. An optional onsen ♨️visit in Osaka for anyone interested.

奈良・大和南部の丘陵地で、早春のハイキングをご一緒しませんか。壺阪山駅から高市地区まで歩き、この地域で毎年開催される「ひなまつり」を楽しみます。ここでは、迫力のある大規模な雛人形の展示や地元の屋台を味わうことができます。町を歩きながら、多くの民家やお店で、さまざまな雛人形——大きなものやユニークなデザインのもの——を見ることができます。

次の冒険は、高取山（584m）への登山です。よく整備された登山道なので、快適に登ることができます。山頂では、日本三大山城の一つである高取城跡で昼食をとります。

その後、高取城跡から壺阪寺（拝観料800円）へ下ります。壺阪寺では、約2,500体の雛人形を展示した「お雛曼荼羅」を見ることができます。これは本当に素晴らしい光景で、きっと驚かれるはずです。私のお気に入りは、大谷翔平選手（ロサンゼルス・ドジャース）の雛人形と、その横にいる小さな犬です。

壺阪寺を見学した後は、高市地区へ戻り、壺阪山駅で解散します。希望者には、オプションで温泉にも立ち寄れます。
