Additional Details 📋
Katsuo-ji is a famous Shingon Buddhist temple in the hills north of Osaka, best known for its thousands of red daruma dolls symbolizing perseverance, luck, and achieving goals.

The temple is in a quiet mountain setting with forests, gardens, koi ponds, and seasonal foliage. The temple grounds are fairly large with hills and stairs.

You can buy a daruma doll, make a wish or set a goal, paint one eye, and place it on the grounds of the temple. You may return later to paint the second eye after success.

Minoh Falls is one of the most famous nature spots near Osaka — a peaceful 33-meter waterfall hidden in a forested valley about 30–45 minutes from central Osaka. It’s part of the larger Meiji no Mori Minoh Quasi-National Park.

The park is known for Japanese macaque monkeys, many insects and birds and lush forest vegetation. The waterfall itself is beautiful, but the experience is really about the walk there along a gentle riverside trail through forest. Along the way are small temples and bridges. The mountain air and quieter atmosphere than Osaka city will calm your soul. Enjoy local snack stalls along the path.

The famous local snack you’ll see are shops selling momiji tempura (deep-fried maple leaves). Real maple leaves are preserved, battered, and fried into a sweet crunchy snack unique to Minoh.
