What we’re about

Kansas City is a pretty cool place with a lot to offer. It has a fantastic jazz scene, local sports, incredible restaurants and dining, an active arts and culture community, affordable living, and low traffic.

It's also one the most culturally homogenous regions I've ever lived in, with most of the population not having ever left the area or the general Midwest region. Everyone seems to know everyone already; they've all had friend groups since high school. It has a strong in-crowd culture that requires you to wear a jersey and know the intimate details of Andy Reed's haircare routine to be able to make small talk.

One of the chief complaints I've made myself and heard from everyone I've connected with is how difficult it is to make friends if you are an outsider to the region. That's why I have created this social group to solve that problem.

KC Expats hosts social gatherings, and meetups focused on talking, socializing, and connecting with other people looking for the same thing you are: friends!

The co-host and I are in our late 30s, so we welcome everyone in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, both men and women.
