We are meeting in person at 322 Aoloa St. in Kailua. Parking is on the street or guest parking (register in office). Follow a path just before the entrance to the guest parking and you will get to the dog park; we meet on benches there.

Rinpoche wrote Power of Mind for us to use as a handbook to help us with every day life.
In February we will focus on Karma, the law of cause and effect.
This is a core concept in Buddhism.
Current global interest is keen, with the discovery of 3i/ATLAS.
We'll look at Karma in terms of world view and personal experience as well.

The index is replete with citations relating to Karma. Here are some of the sections with related material you can review for this discussion.
This group will be a good place to share your own ideas, experiences, and questions.
*Part I Chapter 3 "Karma, Cause and Result: Actions Have Consequences"
*Part I Chapter 4, Suffering: The Unsatisfying Nature of All Things
*Part III Transforming Adversity: :Turning Hardships into Opportunities
Part VI Living in Harmony with Practice Commitments of the Path
Appendix I Atisha's Life Story

The book is based on Atisha's 10th Century Buddhist text, the Seven Key Points of Mind Training.

  • Khentrul Lodroe Thaye Rinpoche, the author of this book has been teaching in Hawaii annually since 2005. In 2023, he spoke about this book and signed copies for us.

Our program will consist of introductory comments and group discussion of the book. Our experience will be supported by brief intermittent practices of guided meditation.

The book is readable and practical, as well as profound. It's a good basis for conversation leading to meaningful connections with others.

It is written for use as a daily guide to practice.

  • With this wisdom, we can explore the potential of our minds and share this wisdom that has been passed down from teacher to student for centuries.
  • Regardless of what is happening in our lives, Rinpoche reminds us that our path to freedom lies within our minds. The time to practice this is now.

The book is available from the publisher, Shambhala publications, and from Amazon in paperback, e-book, and audio book.

Make time for daily practice. Power of Mind offers material to contemplate and apply in daily life. So start reading now, not the night before our meeting❣️

The "Translators guide for how to read this book" is a brief key important to working with the book.
Rinpoche's introduction "Why Tame the Mind?" obviates any tips I might give.
Looking forward to meeting newcomers, to hearing your thoughts, experiences, questions, and impressions.
