What we’re about
This is a group for people who have their own kayaks and would like to kayak a variety of locations. This allows us to go to lots of great places where rentals are not available. We are a river kayak group so you should expect to encounter a variety of river conditions including sometimes faster water and obstructions such as submersed rocks and trees that you will hit with your boat. For this reason inflatable kayaks are not recommended and they are slower than the hard shell yaks this group uses.
We spot our cars. This means we drop our kayaks off at the starting point, leave someone to watch our equipment, and the rest of the group drives all of the cars to the take-out location. We then bring back all the drivers to the starting point leaving as many cars as possible at the take-out.
We kayak most weekends, spring through fall. Your profile must have a recognizable picture of yourself and you must also own a kayak or have access to a kayak to join.

Additionally, though we would love to help by giving some suggestions as to what kayak to purchase for yourself, that is not a main objective of this group. Actually trying out some boats and talking to those who sell them is a better way to figure out what will work for you.
