Details

We are meeting at the beach on the left before you get to the boat Ramp. Look for my bright orange kayak.

Greetings fellow paddlers,

There have been a number of members looking to rent a kayak and join our adventures. We will be teaming up with iKayakCharlotte.com on Saturday, June 21st to host two paddle sessions beside the Neck Road Boat Ramp in Huntersville, off of Duke Access Road. The rental kayaks will be available at the first left before the boat ramp. Sign up here, answer the questions and follow the link below to rent your kayak. You don't need to rent a kayak to attend if you will be bringing your own.

The good folks at iKayakCharlotte.com are discounting your rental cost as a member of our group. We are very grateful for their hospitality!

The Kayak schedule for Saturday, June 21st will include an early session and sunset session. You can do one session or both.

Early paddle 12:30am to 4:30pm

Sunset paddle 5:30pm to 9:30pm

The rates for the kayaks are as follows:
Single kayak: $30 per session
Double kayak (two people): $60 per session
*** There is a booking fee, tax, and state participant fee of $3/ guest added to your purchase

The weather is looking great, albeit, a bit warm. Rain is unlikely. Please let me know if you see any forecasted weather that would put our paddle in doubt.

When you sign-up, do not assume there is no room if there are already 10 people signed up. Get on the waiting list and email me because some attendees are planning to only attend one session. You may be able to bring a few guests, but please email me in advance for approval so the size of our group stays manageable. Please check back periodically for updates and let me know if you won't be able to attend. To help make things run smoothly, please answer the questions posed when you sign up.

Make sure you bring what you need on the day of our paddle. This list will be different for everyone, but here are some things to consider: Water, food/snacks, sunscreen, flashlight, flashlight that straps on head, binoculars (there are lots of Blue Herons, turtles, etc), camera, waterproof phone float, hat, sunglasses, water shoes, etc.

This kayak event will be perfect for all levels of kayaker. We will set a leisurely pace and only pick it up if everyone is wanting to cover more distance. There will be more aggressive paddles in the future. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early.

To find the location, type Neck Road Boat Ramp into Google Maps. Please note the address does not work on Apple Maps. Duke Access Rd. Huntersville NC, 28078 should come up as the address. If another address comes up, it is the wrong address. We will meet at the first entrance to your left and not at the boat ramp. You will park on a gravel road and there will be a small beach area to launch the kayaks.

Launch Coordinates:
35.370600, -80.933544
Copy and paste coordinates into your web browser and select “map” to get a map and directions to the exact location.

Feel free to start a discussion or email me with any suggestions or concerns. I'm very much looking forward to getting out on the water with everyone!

Frank
