Annsville Preserve Park crossing 3 bridges and a waterfall!

Please note the new launch location is Annsville Preserve Park. Annsville by the Paddlesport Center is closed due to ongoing construction of the entrance and circle. Annsville Preserve Park is on Old Pemart Ave, Peekskill, NY. You will go past a boxing gym and thru a 1 lane narrow, rutted road (Old Pemart Ave) along the train tracks. Park in the parking lot and use a cart to get your boat down to the small rocky beach area.

Launch time 09:30 am. in the water. This is tidal & we leave on time. Hi tide at Peekskill is 11:31am, 3.31', Lo tide 6:16 pm .20'. Slack 2:19 pm, flow 11:36 am + 0.9 kts. We should have an assist going & coming. Sunset is 7:42 pm, new moon, approximate distance to be covered 9 - 10 miles.

This paddle shows the beauty of the Hudson River as we go north to Mine Dock and back south under the Bear Mt. bridge, Popolopen Suspension bridge and the bridge over Rt 9W. If water levels are high there may still be a waterfall at the end of the creek. We will have lunch here.

Remember when going under the Popolopen Suspension bridge go thru the LAST trestle as there are obstructions under the others and you could snag or get caught. You must have your own 14' minimum size kayak, equipment, and be able to paddle 10 miles at a pace. No SOTS, SUPS, rafts, inflatables or pets. Surfskis OK. No rentals available on site.

You should know how to assist/self rescue and be able to paddle and keep pace with the group. Everyone is responsible for themselves. This in not a tour just like minded paddlers going out together. The Hudson can get choppy at times, know your limitations. PFD's must be fastened and worn at all times on the water, skirts recommended. Bring whatever you need for a full day trip on the water. Pack a change of clothes in a dry bag.

We travel in a pod together when crossing the Hudson. Bring a radio if you have 1. Please do not go in front of the lead or behind the sweep. Be kind. Faster paddlers can circle the group.
