Please arrive early to be able to park and be in the water at 5:30 pm. Sunset is 7:16 pm, and the Corn moon is not supposed to be visible tonight as it is the full on Sunday, but you never know. The sunset should be colorful. Bring wheels/kayak cart to get your boat from the parking lot to the launch area. This is a private boat launch for Mahopac residents only, and you are my guests so please Do Not Go On Any Private Property. There is a Porta Potty at the launch site. We will not be landing anywhere as the lake is private, so please take care of your needs before we launch.

You must have a WHITE LIGHT on your kayak to be visible on the water. Head lamps also recommended. The more lights the better. PFD's must be fastened and worn at all times. Kayaks 10' minimum with bulkheads and/or float bags. No inflatables, rafts or paddleboards. Canoes & surfskies OK. You should know how to assist and/or self rescue. Everyone is responsible for themselves. No pets allowed. If you have a radio bring it.

This is a flat water paddle, darkness adds a hazard so we will stay in a pod formation as we paddle together around the lake. Night paddles can be hazardous so please adhere to the guidelines so we all can have an enjoyable time. You must have your own boat/equipment. No rentals.

The sunset will hopefully be colorful. The Corn Moon is the time crops are gathered at the end of summer. It centers on gratitude, completion and letting go. It encourages a time of reflection and personal achievement. We will paddle around the 2 islands and see the Frank Lloyd Wright house and the Tea house. Many water birds, and an eagle may be out for us to view.

Check back the day before for a weather update. Rain or strong winds cancel.

If anyone would like to arrive early and have a picnic at the benches by the lake please add it in comments and we can arrange to meet earlier to unload, park & eat. If you haven't paddled with us this year please sign a waiver. Please be kind. My cell if needed; (845) 548-2198.
