Annsville Preserve Park to Bear Mt. Bridge & Popolopen Creek!
Details
Please note the location is Annsville Preserve Park on Old Pemart Ave. Old Pemart Ave has potholes & parallels the train tracks.
Launching from Annsville at 12:15 pm, (means in the water) please get there early to get yourself ready. Hi tide is 2:06 pm, 2.97', Low tide is 9:39 pm, 0.59'. Water temp 62 F.
This paddle shows the beauty of the Hudson River as we go north to enjoy the foliage and under the 3 bridges. Remember when going under the Popolopen Suspension bridge go thru the LAST trestle as there are obstructions under the others and you could get caught.
The weather is cooler now so please dress for immersion, wet/dry suits, skins, dry top, booties etc.
Approximate distance to be covered 8-9 miles on this trip. No rentals available for this trip - you must have your own kayak and equipment. Bring wheels as you can't park directly at the beach, unload in the parking lot and wheel/carry the boats to the beach.
Kayaks must be 14' minimum, no SOT's, Inflatables; surf ski's OK. You should know how to assist/self rescue and be able to paddle 10 miles at a pace. Everyone is responsible for themselves.
The Hudson can get choppy at times, know your limitations. PFD's must be fastened and worn at all times on the water, skirts highly recommended. Bring water, lunch, snacks, whatever you need for a full day trip on the water. Pack a change of clothes, in a dry bag. A polar fleece top is good for when we take our break.
If you haven't paddled with us this year, please sign a waiver. No dogs allowed on Liquid Skies trips. Leave your pets at home.
My cell if needed: (845) 548-2198. Please call 1/2 before launch time or my phone will be packed away.
Check back the Friday before for a weather update. Its too soon to tell now.
