The Shepaug dam is an observatory area for viewing bald eagles. It is located on the Housatonic River by Lake Lillinoah where we kayak in nicer weather. Their 40th season starts Dec 24 through March 15, 2026 from 9 am till 1 pm, on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays only.

A reservation is REQUIRED but free. You MUST BOOK A RESERVATION in order to attend. Reservations are for 1-8 people traveling in 1 vehicle. We will be seeing Christine's Critters birds.

Do not sign up here until you have your reservation. You will be put on waitlist. Once you have your reservation please post it in the comments center below and I will move you to going.

Meet us at the viewing center at 09:45 am. After the eagle viewing we can re-group to take a walk @ the Audobon Center Bent of the River, 185 E Flat Hill Rd, Southbury, CT 06488 which is nearby (9 minute drive) and very scenic. If joining us on the walk please pack a lunch, snack, water etc. This event is outdoors so dress accordingly. Conditions could be muddy so wear appropriate shoes. Hopefully we will see many eagles.

Check back the Friday before for a weather update. Bad weather/icy conditions cancels as the dam will probably close also. Check back the day before for updates. Its a new year so please sign a waiver.
