Our group was founded in 2007 as one of four official Adobe groups in Kansas City. We're designers, developers, digital photographers, freelancers, producers, in-house corporate marketing types, and interested students of all ages — focusing mostly on visually-oriented products in the entire Adobe Creative Suite and Creative Cloud, with a strong emphasis on Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and other tools with a visual emphasis. NO program is off-limits, though...if it's visual, we'll talk about it!
We usually meet on the FIRST TUESDAY of every month, but sometimes special events will change that schedule so always check the web site to see where our next meeting will be!
In early 2013, we made Centriq Training our monthly home. Centriq has recently moved to a fabulous new facility at 1740 W. 92nd St., Kansas City, MO 64114, at the corner of 92nd and Ward Parkway.
Adobe provides us with great presentations, speakers, and prizes. If you're a regular participant in our group, you're very likely to take home some fantastic goodies. Twice a year, we are authorized to give away an entire year's subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud — basically "everything Adobe puts out for creatives" on a membership basis. Additionally, throughout the year we have books, t-shirts, software, and evaluation items for our members...these giveaways are based on your attendance and participation.
Whether you're just starting out with Adobe tools or you're an experienced designer, we look forward to welcoming you to our community. It's a lot of fun and nobody walks away empty-handed!
Be sure to check us out by looking for kcdesigncore on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
(Due to the proliferation of spammers and scammers, we've had to resort to approving new members on an as-requested basis rather than letting Meetup auto-join new people. To join our group, we ask that you please use a "real" name and a "real" photo of yourself -- our group is composed of real people, not flowers, pets, or abstract designs. You're a visual type, but here's your chance to show us what YOU look like. Thanks for your understanding!)
Font technology is taking major leaps forward for the first time in decades, just as it’s becoming easier to discover and work with great typefaces in everything you create. Come take a look at what’s new and what’s next in the world of typography.
Join Dan Rhatigan, manager of Adobe’s in-house type foundry, to find out what’s in the works including:
• Color fonts you can use in more applications and how to create your own custom color fonts inside Illustrator and Photoshop
• Variable fonts with new technology that combines all the styles of a family in a single font, letting you specify just the right version you need
• Ways to choose and work with fonts from Adobe Fonts, Google, and other services that make it easier to find the right typeface for any project
Join us April 2nd for an exciting meeting. Be sure to RSVP, so that we can have an accurate count for the pizza Landajob will be bringing.
