Collective Presencing with Ria Baeck - We-Space practice
San Diego Integral has been exploring and experimenting with We-Space theory and practices for the past few years. We have had some good experiences in We-Space practice and have a deep desire to see where the practice can take us, both individually and collectively.
Collective Presencing has a lineage in deep circle practice and dialogue, and invites us to realize: “What becomes possible when we are truly present together?”
Coming out of a long history of deep circle practice and dialogue, Collective Presencing invites us to ask: “What becomes possible when we are truly present together?” Gathering around a shared inquiry, sensing into what wants to be spoken to, and from, “the middle”, we practice relating as one organism, rather than speaking directly to each other as individuals. Learning to trust ourselves-in-process, we grow our capacity for different ways of knowing, as we think and feel our way together. New ideas spring from the shared field in unexpected ways. An experience of shared sense-making & meaning-making emerges a visceral sense of ourselves as being intimately connected, dissolving our stories of separateness and isolation. As Otto Scharmer in Theory U calls it - sensing into the emergent future.

We are honored to have one of the developers of Collective Presencing and the author of the book, Collective Presencing, Ria Baeck, join us in a special session of SDI. It will be at a time that works for both American and European members, at 11 a.m. PT on the 4th Saturday of this month.
Collective Presencing (CP) was developing in parallel with many other processes, including Theory U, Authentic Relating, Circling, and others. CP is also influenced by Integral Theory (Ken Wilber and Terry Patten specifically), Bonnitta Roy’s Collective Intelligence work, and the writings of Jean Gebser.
In the practice, we start from a Circle of Presence and move to a Circle of Creation.
“A Circle of Presence is any group that has as its purpose to learn, individually and collectively, to grow more present to its collective wisdom. This presumes a capacity in each member of the group to be present with oneself, with others, with the group, and also with the potential that is not yet realized. Awareness on all these levels helps build our capacity to attain authentic, collective wisdom in service of actions that are unique, authentic, and balanced in the world. In the second half of the book, we will describe how this awareness and consciousness can be expanded even further, both inwards and outwards, through the practice of a Circle of Creation.”

Bio:
Ria Baeck likes to explore the terrain where her inner senses tell her there is potential to be uncovered. Always scanning what’s new in work, collaboration, and co-creation, the question: “What is the next bit of potential that is ready to take form?” is always alive in her. In that way, she is a track-finder for many to follow.
Ria also loves to understand why things are working as they do, and how. Always digging one step deeper; discovering what is essential in how we deal with complex challenges, individually and collectively. In that sense, she is an illuminator who likes sharing her fresh questions and insights with others.
Ria’s 30 or so years’ professional experience and her capacity to create safe learning spaces, have made her a master of support for real participatory and innovative approaches. She is known for her embodied presence and inner repose, as well as her highly developed sensing skills, crucial in designing emergent processes. She has co-initiated many gatherings, learning groups, and action research projects.
She is born, raised, and still lives in the Flemish countryside. She shares a house with two others, where you can find her all weekend days in the garden, tending the soil and growing organic vegetables. She has three sons and seven grandchildren.
Masters in Clinical Psychology (Leuven, Belgium), professionally trained in Art of Hosting, Systemic Constellations, Emotional Bodywork, and more.
