HOW A LEADERLESS CULT THREATENS LAW AND ORDER WORLDWIDE: The "Sovereign Citizen" Movement

I began working directly for Ken Wilber on a daily basis for three years (I think we took New Year's Day off) beginning in 2002. I started the Integral Education group, then was chosen as Vice-Chancellor of what we hoped would become Integral University.

At the same time I was teaching full time at a public high school, guest lecturing at Rutgers University and other colleges including an interfaith seminary, and keeping up with a busy law practice that began with me defending a client accused of murder and facing the death penalty.

After retiring from full-time teaching, I contracted both breast and lung cancer (I am a never-smoker) and decided to use Integral to guide me through two harrowing years. I wound up writing a book entitled INTEGRAL HEALING published in 2014, for which Ken wrote a beautiful foreword.

I switched to practicing and being certified in special education law until COVID stymied this area of law. I've been widely published but never kept a CV tracking where my articles appeared.

My daughter, Erica L. Fields, Esq., is also an attorney who enjoys trial practice as I did. As of 2022, we began following the televised trial of Darrell Brooks, who intentionally rammed his SUV into a 2021 Christmas parade in Walkeshaw, Wisconsin, killing 8 "dancing grannies" and injuring over 70 others. We were puzzled when, representing himself, he spent the long trial sprinkling out-of-context legal terms that we knew were incorrect yet would stop the trial for the judge to rule.

After that, we both went "down the rabbit hole" to figure out what his "jabberwocky" (in Judge Middleton's words) actually meant. To our horror, Brooks had subscribed to a "leaderless cult" known worldwide as "sovereign citizens" whose stated goals are the overthrow of law enforcement and judicial systems worldwide, but especially in the US.
Erica and I are now being asked to instruct law enforcement, judges, and attorneys on this very real threat. Some "practitioners" amount to nuisances; others are violent and have led to deaths and death threats. We are relying heavily on Spiral Dynamics and action-inquiry as well as Foucault's "counter-memory" theories. We have been asked by national best selling author Dr. Steven Hassan, who authored THE CULT OF TRUMP, to speak to his Harvard group on Law and Psychiatry this fall.
