Founded in 1984, Kind gives people in Ottawa’s queer communities personal and peer support, as well as a physical space for people to understand and inhabit their particular identities with confidence and courage.

Kind provides anyone on the human sexuality and gender spectrum with resources, information and support. We provide services and to supports to our community and connect them to places and spaces. Programs, events and initiatives include youth outreach initiatives, and peer led discussion/support groups. Peer-led groups Kind runs include: Queer trans youth, Café Q, Polybilities, QueerAmore, GenderQuest, etc. that are powered by our volunteers.

What better way to start the weekend off than to nourish each other with beloved meals that honour our roots and witness together the beauty, complexity, and richness of our lives through film.

We’re gathering at A.C.O. from 6pm to 10pm for food, film, and conversation. You’re encouraged to bring something to share and a container to bring extras back with you.

Nous nous retrouverons à CSO. de 18 h à 22 h pour partager un repas, un film et des discussions. N’hésitez pas à apporter un plat à partager ainsi qu’un récipient pour emporter les restes.

Silver Souls is a peer support for 50+ LGBTQ+ and will take place every second and fourth Friday, from 6:30-7:30 PM. This is a safer space to talk about whatever is on your mind or heart. Tea, Coffee [Regular/Decaf] and snacks offered. After the hour session you are welcome to stay for puzzle club which runs from 7:30PM - 9:00PM for all ages.

Puzzle Club [Program]

Puzzle Club is a drop in group at Kind Space for people of all ages, to play traditional recreational games and puzzles. Every Second and Fourth Friday from 7:30-9:00 PM. This is an opportunity to revisit some old fashion games and pastimes; create jigsaw puzzles over the weeks; or play; board games, cards, checkers, chess, charades with other people.
Whatever type of puzzle you like to do, come break some loneliness.

Kind Space will be open before the club to play games and socialize if you come early; but the big puzzles won’t be rolled out until 7:30PM! Come Join the Club!

Community Reunion & Information Fair.

Community, we’re getting together in the park! We’re setting up for a day of joy, playfullness, and relaxed vibes.

Between 11am and 4pm at McNabb Park, bring a chair, bring your friends, bring the kids, bring your whimsy - there will be no shortage of activities to play together from music to jump rope to badminton, giant Jenga to Connect 4 and much more in between! Community organizations and groups will be there to share resources and/or facilitate activities. You’re not limited to just the main area the event is taking place! There is a play structure, wading pool, and skate park to enjoy as well.

This is a free, all-ages, family friendly event. We’re collecting non-perishable food and hygiene items for the Kind Space Pantry program, if you have something to offer, please bring it with you.

ACCESSIBILITY & LOGISTICAL NOTES
- Washroom access is available inside the McNabb Community Centre (180 Percy St), participants must enter through the main entrance located on Percy Street. There is a Portapotty available in the park.
- The majority of the event will take place on the grassy field located near the Gladstone entrance. There is a paved walking path surrounding the field.
- Extra water and light snacks will be provided.
- Sun safety - water or sports drinks, sunscreen, light-coloured clothing, and a hat!

Rencontre communautaire et foire d'information

Chers membres de la communauté, rendez-vous au parc! Nous vous préparons une journée placée sous le signe de la joie, de la bonne humeur et de la détente.

De 11 h à 16 h au parc McNabb, apportez une chaise, venez avec vos amis, vos enfants et votre bonne humeur : les activités ne manqueront pas pour s'amuser tous ensemble, de la musique, la corde à sauter en passant par le badminton, le Jenga géant, connect 4 et bien d'autres encore ! Des associations et groupes locaux seront présents pour partager leurs ressources et/ou animer des activités. Vous n’êtes pas limités à la zone principale où se déroule l’événement ! Vous pourrez également profiter d’une aire de jeux, d’une pataugeoire et d’un skatepark.

Il s’agit d’un événement gratuit, ouvert à tous les âges et adapté aux familles. Nous collectons des dons non périssables et des produits d’hygiène pour le programme Kind Space Pantry ; si vous avez quelque chose à offrir, n’hésitez pas à l’apporter.

ACCESSIBILITÉ ET INFORMATIONS LOGISTIQUES
- Des toilettes sont disponibles à l’intérieur du Centre communautaire McNabb (180, rue Percy) ; les participants doivent entrer par l’entrée principale située sur la rue Percy. Des toilettes portables sont disponibles dans le parc.
- La majeure partie de l’événement se déroulera sur la pelouse située près de l’entrée Gladstone. Un sentier pavé fait le tour de la pelouse.
- De l’eau et des collations légères seront fournies.
- Protection solaire: amenez votre bouteille d’eau ou boissons énergétiques, de la crème solaire, vêtements de couleur claire et un chapeau !
