About us
We’re hosting Kirtan Nights in May (and onwards) at our Houston temple and are inviting musicians to come and play and experience something unique.
Kirtan is a live, call-and-response musical meditation rooted in bhakti traditions—deeply rhythmic, melodic, and immersive. While it traditionally features instruments like harmonium and mrdanga/tabla drums, we’re looking to open it up to a wider musical palette and would love to include musicians from all backgrounds. You might have heard of famous names like Krsna Das, Radhika Das, etc.
We’d love if you are interested in joining us! All instruments are welcome including:
Trumpet, flute, saxophone
Double bass, upright bass, cello
Guitar (acoustic/electric)
Violin, clarinet, or other melodic instruments
Anyone with a genuine interest in improvisation and spiritual/meditative music
What to expect:
A relaxed, welcoming environment (no prior kirtan experience needed)
Simple chord progressions and repetitive structures—easy to join in
Collaboration with experienced kirtan singers
A chance to explore a different musical and cultural experience
This is not a paid gig but more about the experience. Think of it as a musical offering and an opportunity to connect with something deeper through sound.
Send me a message - we’d love to have you. The event will be on Fri May 15th evening and will be held about every two weeks. So even if you can only join once, that would be great!
