Kirtan Meditation & Plant-Based Potluck at Columbia Park (Beginner Friendly)

Details
Come mellow out, meditate, make music and make friends at this fun and informal mantra meditation evening hosted by kirtan artist and meditation teacher Chay Tanya Lila.
What it's all about: Kirtan is a call and response musical meditation from the yoga tradition, considered the most potent form of meditation in this day and age. Bathing in and singing these powerful transcendental sound vibrations cleanses the heart and the mind and brings peace to the soul.
We open our meditation with a guided breathing practice and a resonant mantra circle that takes you deep into a meditative space. Then, sing along with ancient mantras in a call and response format. Come listen, soak up the vibes, sing along, and bring an instrument to jam along if you feel inspired!
Beginners highly encouraged, all ages, voices and experiences welcome!
Address: Columbia Park, 4339 N Lombard St, Portland, OR 97203.
We'll meet in the grass behind Columbia Cottage aka Friends of Columbia building which is the main entrance building located in the South of the park where N Lombard St meets N Russet St.
Parking: There is free street parking around Columbia Park
Public transport: Catch the 75 bus from N Lombard Transit Center
Accessibility: We'll be in the grass, the space is generally level. There will be shade and we encourage you to bring a camp chair if you prefer. Columbia Cottage has public bathrooms.
What to bring: You’re welcome to bring vegan snacks or a dish for the potluck, but it’s not required (if you’re not bringing a dish, please make doubly sure to RSVP so we can make enough food). We encourage you to bring a water bottle and a camping chair or blanket. The temperature drops a bit in the shade and mosquitoes have been coming out so we suggest bringing an extra layer and bug spray. We’ll bring citronella candles.
Bringing guests: Please do! Just ask them to RSVP separately or RSVP for them with their name and email address so that we can get an accurate headcount. Kids are welcome (no RSVP needed) and there is a playground nearby as well.
What to wear: The temperature will be in the 80's, no rain anticipated but consider bringing a light cover up for bugs
How to support: A $10-15 suggested donation helps us cover the costs of food and our sound system as well as other ongoing costs, and is always deeply appreciated (NOTAFLOF)
