From the Storm of Anxiety to the Clear Calm Within
Kadampa Meditation Center LI, 282 New York Avenue, Huntington, NY, USIn this summer series, we will look at the mind of anxiety, which in these modern times has become its own pandemic, afflicting young and old alike. We will learn several different meditations and develop wisdoms that will give us tools, protection and a reliable place to take cover when doom-and-gloom clouds descend and lightning fears strike.
Throughout the series we will discover and connect with the clarity of our sky-like mind, an untapped reservoir of peace within that even the most violent anxiety storm cannot destroy or harm.
We will come to see how the discomfort of anxiety, rather than being a foe, can in fact be an ally and a guide, taking us into deep connection with others and showing us our purpose. Help is at hand. We simply need to practice opening the shutters of our mind to allow the sun of enlightenment to shine directly into our hearts.

Woven with Wisdom and Joy: The Bodhisattva’s Way of Life
Kadampa Meditation Center LI, 282 New York Avenue, Huntington, NY, USIt is said that a Bodhisattva, a friend of the world, goes from joy to joy. What is the source of this joyful experience? The practice of the Six Perfections; six particular types of action that are so beneficial to ourselves and others.
Each of these practices on their own create causes for peace, happiness, and the conditions to better help others. When we weave these practices together into all our actions, the benefits and the joy are increased exponentially.

Help! I’m a People Pleaser
Kadampa Meditation Center LI, 282 New York Avenue, Huntington, NY, USAll of us want to help our family, our friends and this world. Many of us want to help so much that we have a hard time saying no! We can wind up feeling overextended, stressed or even resentful. Sometimes, along with our sincere wish to help, is an underlying tendency to “need to be needed”, or to be a “people pleaser”. Buddha can help us with practical advice and strategies for uncovering these survival-based patterns and transforming them through: • knowing our true value • setting wise boundaries • and learning ways of helping and giving that leave us feeling peaceful, relaxed and of greater benefit to others than ever before.
