Here we go, starting out 2026 on the trails.
This is the first of many hikes for our group in 2026. Let's go get started!

We will meet in the Hikers Parking area at Cosby.
Then we will shuttle over to the Big Creek area to start our hike back.
*Please volunteer to help with the shuttle.

(This hike is weather permitting. Which means it could be moved if the weather is bad.)
This hike is 10.6-miles, with 2,175' or so in gain.

We will start by heading up the Chestnut Branch Trail (2.1-miles) to the AT. Then turn up the AT (1-mile) more, until we reach the Lower Cammerer Trail where we will turn down, YES DOWN finally. Then it is 7.4-miles back to our vehicles in Cosby.

• What to bring
Wear proper hiking clothing, hiking footwear, poles, water and snacks, etc... Bring what you need to hike safely.
- I would bring your micro-spikes in case you need them. There may be a few icy spots on the trail because of the weather.
