What we’re about

Hi, my name is JC. For the past eight years, I’ve tried, and repeatedly failed, to get off opioids and, more specifically, kratom. Today I’m living in recovery, and I’m starting this group for anyone who is still struggling, trying to cut down, or has already found a way through and wants to support others.

This is a non‑judgmental space. Everyone here understands how isolating and confusing it can be to get hooked on something most people don’t even recognize as highly addictive. Kratom acts on the same receptors in the brain as opioids, and stopping can feel overwhelming to face alone. You don’t have to do it alone. We’re here to walk through it together.

This group is open both to people who use kratom or opioids and to those who care about someone who does. If you love someone who is using, it’s important to know that you cannot want recovery for them—they have to want it themselves. But, if they’re not ready or not comfortable coming to a meeting yet, you are welcome to attend, listen, and ask questions, and we’ll share what has helped us in our own journeys.

Please note: I am not, and do not claim to be, a medical or mental health professional. This is a peer‑led support group, not treatment or therapy. Everything shared comes from personal experience, not professional training. This group is meant to complement, not replace, professional care. Whenever possible, my strongest suggestion is to seek guidance from qualified professionals first and use this group as an additional layer of support.

For now, this group is held at a Starbucks, so we only ask to make a small purchase to support the location.
