Details

Lots of fun 🤩
7 miles, < 400 feet elevation gain, and ONE WAY! 🎉

We will meet at meet at Lower Sycamore Trailhead (29841-29867 N Lower Valley Road). It comes up easily & accurately using Google Maps! From our meeting point, we will leave some vehicles there and shuttle to Water Canyon Campground (25150 Campground Dr.).

Now that Highway 58 goes all of the way through Bakersfield, Tehachapi is only 58 nonstop minutes from my house in NW Bakersfield! AND it is 18-22 degrees cooler there! 👍🥶🥵

This is where we will start the hike and where we will have the potlock picnic afterwards.

Suzanne’s photo from last year in June 2024 is the cover shot 📸

We finally have a date that works for all of us coordinating and/or living there: Sheila, Tom, Suzanne & Paul, and Mike.

Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community, so we’ll need to provide your name as guests for entry.

We’ll hike in the beautiful Bear Valley Springs community 6-8 miles. They are “easier” miles, because we are hiking downhill! ⛰️ On a recent hike there on May 14, 2025, they still had many beautiful flowers 💐 🪻🌸🌷🌺 🌼

Afterwards, we will have a potluck picnic lunch together at the campground at the top, Sites #1-2
😋 It’s a pretty setting with picnic tables.

Suzanne will provide plates, utensils🍴 napkins, and “deli slider” sandwiches.

So please bring a nice substantial dish to share and a “camping type” outdoor chair, so that we can all sit and enjoy the view together & visit a bit afterwards!
