Sherman Peak (9909') Day Hike

This is a good day hike to get ready to backpack at elevation. The above picture was taken in June 2024.

This up-and-back trail hike is 5 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 1170 feet. The trail begins at 9140 foot elevation and travels through open forest to reach the peak. Even at this elevation, it can be hot. This hike is in the Book Exploring the Southern Sierra East Side by Ruby Jenkins. The hike is T95 on page 172.

Bakersfield hikers meet at 7:30am at the Shell on 178 and Commanche to carpool/caravan. We are meeting at 8:30 AM at the James Sierra Gateway Market in Kernville. It will take us about an hour and a half to caravan to the Sherman Pass trailhead on Sherman Pass Road.
