Cow Flat Road Hike

Details
This trail is in the burn area of last year's Borel Fire. I am hoping that it is in as good shape as Mill Creek Trail. I saw a report that trees are coming back after the burn. Let's go check it out.
This hike is approximately 5 miles RT with an elevation gain of about 1000 feet. The hike is located off of highway 178 in the Kern River Canyon between Bakersfield and Lake Isabella. We will be carpooling to the location, parking in one of the turn outs, and then at 1:00pm we will hike along Cow Flat Road. This is an up-and-back hike so you are welcome to go farther or shorter as you and your carpool wish.
Hikers coming down Highway 178 from the east should carpool/caravan from the Isabella Park-and-Ride at 12:30pm.
Hikers coming up Highway 178 from the west should carpool/caravan around 12:20pm. Please arrange carpool meetings in comments. We will meet at the Shell gas station on the 178 & Comanche to carpool and leave there at 12:20pm.
In Exploring the Southern Sierra: West Side by Ruby Jenkins there are two references to Cow Flat Road on pages 37, and 42.
