Keysville Classic Trail to White Rock Loop hike

Details
Loop Hike, Length 5 miles RT
Elevation gain 1,000 ft, low of approx. 2500ft, high of approx. 3500ft.
(Unfortunately the fenced Walker Cabin property is currently closed for renovations and we won't be able to explore that site, but the cemetery and mining sites are still open and we will check them out.)
Most of this hike is on trail, but there is some cross country hiking. We will start our hike from the Walker Cabin parking area at the end of paved Keyesville Road. We will cut cross country to go around the closed Walker Cabin property, visit the Old Keysville Cemetery, and catch the Keysville Classic Trail. We will follow the Keysville Classic Trail for just over two miles, then leave the trail to hike up the steep ridge to White Rock. (This is a somewhat challenging ascent that gains about 700 feet in just under a mile.) There are amazing 360 degree views of Lake Isabella and the surrounding valley from the top of White Rock. After taking a break and having a snack at White Rock, we will hike down the north ridge to the Tombstone Trail. We will take the Tombstone Trail down to a ravine where there are several mines and associated historical debris. We will check them out as we make our way cross country and down trails back to the Walker Cabin to finish the loop back at the cars. The trail passes through open terrain dotted with oaks and pine trees, beautiful rock outcroppings, and spectacular views of the mountains and surrounding area.
Meet at the new Walker Cabin parking lot at the end of pave Keyesville Road at 8:33am. There is a new bathroom at this parking lot. We will start the hike right at 8:40am.
